AN UNEXPECTED ADVOCATE

I got into the vehicle this morning surprised to find this gentleman. Turns out he was hitchin’ a ride back home after walking several very early morning miles to The Maa Trust to ask for more women in his village partaking in work opportunities. Considering the Maasai is an extremely traditional, patriarchal society, I was so surprised and impressed this much-respected village elder was the one advocating for women. I mean, he must have gotten up at 5 am and walked for a few hours to do this. Wow. ❤️ Wish you could see his face, but I was not going to redirect him and get the perfect shot...he hopped out of the truck and was on his way.
